Just as a quick PSA, you can actually use YAML for parameters passed in to "-e if you like. Observe: > data_ => puts data_ description: "Acme acquires ILM: Lucas says. That means that a \" in your heredoc ends up as just " in your string. Your problem is that heredocs act like double quoted strings as far as escaping is concerned. If you want to include both single-quotes and double-quotes in the title, then use the "folded" syntax recommended in the other answers…. You've to include the whole thing in quotes: title: '"Test" zc mzxcl'. This function accepts either a byte string, a Unicode string, an open binary file.
